In the race to claim the Massachusetts House 14^th Essex District seat, Democrat Diana DiZoglio has defeated Republican Karin Rhoton, 59 percent to 41 percent.

This has been an interesting race since the Democratic primary in September, in which DiZoglio defeated incumbent State Rep. David Torrisi.

Rhoton campaigned aggressively on conservative values and a Beacon Hill outsider persona and was even endorsed by The Boston Herald and former gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker, among others. But in the end, that wasn’t enough to overcome DiZoglio’s popularity in Methuen.
