Are You Still Without Power? Let Us Know

Leave a comment if you still have no power, and we'll try to get you some answers.

Many in North Andover are still without power three days after the worst October snowstorm on record.

National Grid reports making great progress restoring power in the past couple days, and local Emergency Management has assured the public that trees are being removed and power restored neighborhood-by-neighborhood.

Are you still without power? Let us know in the comments and we will see if we can get some answers on when your neighborhood's power might be restored.

And don't forget, you can go to the shelter set up at the Senior Center if you are still without power or heat.

All of Stonecleave is still out and the National Grid truck that is at the end of the road that has been there since 7AM yesterday morning with no one in it or around it isn't helping much, either....

Bryan - Can they publish their work schedule with estimate timeline so that we can prepare one day ahead? Many families on Sherwood Drive have school kids. It has been very frustrated to be in the cold, dark and uncertain! By the way, would insurace pay for hotel stay for these days? Thanks.

Judy, the standard homeowners policy excludes coverage for off-premises power outages. If a limb took out a line from the street to your house you might have better luck. Otherwise, you may be able to look to FEMA for some type of coverage since federal relief had been approved.

Coco says the system is working. It's not, by any definition. North Andover town employees are doing most of National Gridlock's job. It's a kludged "Fly by night - Learn as you go operation. NG had no pre-drafted emergency Recovery Plan, nor did the town have a pre-created priority list, and the Mass Utility Commission of interned hacks is absolutely clueless. The citizens of this fine town demand a copy of the post-mortem recovery report.. the exact same one that is sent to National Grid's senior management published for our review. It's outrageous that home owners are charge $85.00 for a required building permit to repair a damaged line connection box attached to the house before any work is done. Customers should be able to call this monopoly directly... but national grid took all their phones off the hook.. except the low level, low skilled person masquerading as the "customer desk". It's pretty clear by observers that scores of verizon and comcast trucks are on the ground and National Grid trucks seem to never be seen.. nowhere.. in six days. Are you prepared for the next round to be repeated in the same manner for the next January storm?

Now might not be the best time to remind everyone that the state is requiring utilities to increase the percentage of renewable power they use. That means, we will get stuck paying for over-priced Cape Wind power (National Grid has a contract with Cape Wind to purchase 50% of its power for outrageous prices). And we just discovered a so-called 100 year supply of cheap natural gas.

The silver lining is that maybe we won't have as many power outages in winter now that the weaker branches have fallen.
