Chama Grill Joins Local Restaurant Scene

The Brazilian-American steakhouse offers a unique style of dining.

The North Andover restaurant scene just got a bit spicier

In 2008 restaurant owner Shahram Naghibi took part in a dining experience that he would never forget. In Tampa, Florida he discovered a Brazilian steakhouse and decided that it was time for the Merrimack Valley to enjoy the South American specialties that this restaurant had to offer.

“We don’t have this caliber restaurant in all of Massachusetts,” said Naghibi.

Four years later, his new restaurant, Chama Grill, is now open at 115 Main Street in downtown North Andover. Chama offers a unique dining experience that patrons will get used to very quickly.

For $39 guests can live the Chama dining experience. First, guests have a choice of Panzanella salad or the chef’s soup of the day. Following are appetizers such as fried bananas, white rice, black bean soup, and polenta.

Then, you simply turn over a colored card on your table and the Chama Grill chefs will begin serving you a variety of grilled meats.

“It grabs your attention when the chefs walk around,” said Naghibi. “There are so many different cuts and textures we offer; it’s great to have such a big selection,” he added.

The meat menu is certainly Chama’s signature specialty. Meat dishes that you can sample throughout your meal include London broil, filet mignon, top sirloin, bottom sirloin, beef ancho, beef ribs, leg of lamb, bacon wrapped chicken, baby pork ribs, pork loin, and Brazilian pork sausages.

A more traditional dining experience is also available with appetizers such as stuffed eggplant and fried calamari. Other entrées on the menu included New York sirloin steak, salmon, and swordfish.

Executive chef Alexandre Alvarenga prepares all the food served at Chama. He sold his own restaurant to join Naghibi and his team.

General Manager Carlos Silva is delighted to work with the new restaurant's staff. “We hired everyone locally,” Naghibi said.

Meanwhile North Andover continues to develop its reputation as a business friendly town. “From the selectmen to the health department to the building department, they were all very helpful and excited,” Naghibi said.

Chama opened its doors on Wednesday, June 6 to allow invited guests to sample all that the restaurant had to offer. “We got to meet the whole town and see everybody happy,” Naghibi said.

Chama is open until 10 PM every night of the week. Thursday through Saturday it remains open through midnight.
