It might sound like a strange science fiction story, but North Andover reportedly had a sighting of a "coywolf," which is a coyote-wolf hybrid, WHDH reports.
The animal was reported by a North Andover resident, and what he described may very well have been a coywolf. Wolves haven't been part of the Massachusetts wildlife in more than 100 years, but they can migrate from other areas. And coyotes do have some wolf DNA.

Where was it spotted? I hear them howling in the summer time here but having lived my entire life in Southern California, they are just a part of life out there and they don't bother me. Just watch your small animals.

Thus, in a world where fantasy has replaced analysis. At least, the "Experts" have finally ceased applying the silly "Coyote" label as they did again yesterday. These sighting of wolves have been reported to NA's animal control officer for months .. and she just ignored the alerts and failed to notify the citizens. It took a TV station to bring this very real but minor threat to the forefront.

Having seen and heard them now for a few years, I often wondered if they were a hybrid of wolf and coyote. They seem much bigger and bulkier than the familiar western coyote, and they seem much more pack oriented. 20 years ago you could see many foxes around the area and pheasants. They seem all but gone since the coyotes have moved in.
